It sounds as if too much FURNITURE OIL has been applied, the residual material has not been removed or the surface is varnished and the oil cannot penetrate the pores. Once the FURNITURE OIL has hardened (after about 24 hours), it can no longer be removed. For lacquered surfaces, a lint-free cloth soaked in methylated spirits and a little pressure can help. A specialist can sand down the furniture and repaint it. Oiled furniture can be sanded with fine sandpaper (220) and re-treated. Here too, a specialist should carry out the sanding work.
